Rachel Kelly is an award winning printed and surface textile designer renowned internationally for her process led wallcoverings. Over the past 15 years the Interactive Wallpaper website has enabled a worldwide community to create their own bespoke wall designs.

The quote below from the New York Times “Too much wallpaper can be like too much candy. But used sparingly, it can be an effective accent in an otherwise white box. Stickers may be scattered or layered on patterned panels for a custom look using a kit by Rachel Kelly” illustrates the Interactive Wallpaper approach.

Interactive Wallpaper has created designs for institutions includingThe Armitt Museum and Library, Ruthin Craft Centre:Centre for the Applied Arts, The Royal London Hospital, BBC Media Centre, Arts Council England, The Bluecoat Display Centre, Liverpool and Franc Franc, Japan.

In addition to her studio practice Rachel is an academic senior lecturer at Manchester School of Art and has built up a research profile developing paper and textile projects with organisations such as The Clinical Sciences Research Centre and Ahlstrom.

Rachel is based in the English Lake District and recent local projects include designs for a premier Lake District Hotel and a European funded design commission for the Florence Mine Centre in West Cumbria as well as a number of private clients.

Rachel’s work has been exhibited internationally and is held in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Whitworth Art Gallery Manchester.
