"Within my practice as a printed textile and wallpaper designer I have an interest in the unfinished. I make work, which often sits just short of being complete. I do this because I want there to remain a connection between myself, and those who view my work. The opportunity to respond to The Gawthorpe Collection is an invitation to continue a significant textile narrative.
In selecting a textile from the Gawthorpe collection, I was drawn to an unfinished embroidery sample. My response has been to explore, through drawing, the missing elements of this embroidery. Using digital animation I have been able to identify and isolate aspects, which interest me. This work of ‘drawn’ animations and screen printed ‘stills’, threads a continuing narrative from the unfinished sample".
